Qasr Al Hosn Cultural Programme

Qasr Al Hosn will be home to several cultural performances and fascinating event from until May 2020.

The various events and performances will be related to the Emirati culture and heritage and will include:

– Al Ayyala: A Performance of Valour – Al Nahmeh: Chants of the Sea – Al Rebabah: Voices of the desert – Al Taghrooda: Poetry in Song – Al Razfa: Dance of Unity – Marine Traditions – Falconry Demonstration: The UAE’s National Emblem

Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest and most significant building in Abu Dhabi, holding the city’s first permanent structure; the watchtower. Built around the 1790’s, the commanding structure overlooked the costal trade routes and protected the growing settlement established on the island.

** All events are open for all ages and free of charge, however an entry free for the landmark is applicable.

Kayaking at The Louvre Abu Dhabi

The Storyville Mosquito - Kid Koala

Live animated graphic novel performed, filmed, and scored in real time.

A young mosquito leaves his small town in the country to seek fame and fortune in the big city and fulfill his dream of playing in one of the greatest jazz bands of all time at Sid Villa’s Music Hall.

The Storyville Mosquito is a live animated graphic novel that’s performed, filmed and scored in real time. A team of performers, musicians, foley artists, and technicians cinematically bring the characters to life using miniature sets, puppets, multiple cameras and screens. The puppets tell the story accompanied by an original music soundtrack featuring a trio of musicians and Kid Koala on turntables, keyboards, and electronics.

Al Ain Cultural Programme

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has unveiled a wide range of events, exhibitions and workshops taking place this January as part of its Al Ain Cultural Programme. Throughout the month, Al Jahili Fort, Al Qattara Arts Centre, Al Ain Palace Museum, Qasr Al Muwaiji and Al Ain Oasis will host a series of heritage, folklore, artistic and cultural events for all members of the community to enjoy.

The Emirati play Majareeh (‘The Wounded’) by the Sharjah National Theatre is a cultural drama of beauty and tolerance.Fri, 13 March 2020 from 7-9 pm

This films series introduces cinema lovers to independent films from the Arab world and the region.

Sxip's Hour of Charm & The Gauntlet - Sxip Shirey & Coco Karol

Community, surprise, and charm. An immersive choir and a surprise filled revue will inspire audiences to see art and community in a different way.

Sxip’s Hour of Charm will surprise and delight with an idiosyncratic lineup of UAE-based artists. With a varied background as a circus composer, sound artist, electronic and folk musician, as well as creating compositions featuring stacked harmonicas, marbles spinning in bowls, vintage toys, dust brooms, bells, and slide-whistles. Sxip Shirey has hosted the Hour of Charm at Joe’s Pub, Lincoln Center, and National Sawdust, including such artists as Amanda Palmer, Reggie Watts, Rhiannon Giddens, and Scotty the Blue Bunny. For one night only, he’ll co-curate a revue of performers from the UAE community.
