The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is incredibly beautiful and awe-inspiring - with its 82 white gleaming domes, golden colonnades and giant marble flower inlays, which stretch across the huge central courtyard.
Seen as the key site for worship in the United Arab Emirates, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is also the largest mosque in the country.
It spans across an area of 555,000 square metres and its four impressive main minarets soar 106 metres into the sky.
As you stand back and admire the beauty of this place of worship, you can appreciate the incredible architecture inspired by the founder, and first President of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His vision was to build a mosque that would unite the cultural diversity of the Islamic world incorporating the old and modern world of architecture and art.
Built over a 11- year period and boasting Arabic calligraphy in its design, the Mosque, which opened in 2007, attracts over 4.5 million worshippers and visitors each year. Today, it remains the most visited attraction in Abu Dhabi.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a prominent structure across the capital's skyline, and is open for free daily tours for visitors.
