From a lavish modern mall to its traditional souk, The World Trade Center Abu Dhabi is the best place for shopping in Abu Dhabi when you want it all!
If you’ve come here to shop 'til you drop — as millions of tourists do annually — it can be hard to decide where to start. You seek trinkets to bring home, but you might also want to splurge on some luxe brands from home. Your dilemma is real, and fortunately, there’s a shopping centre for that!
The Souk at The Mall at The World Trade Center Abu Dhabi is a maze of appealing colours and handmade products, and Yalla suggests you begin your shopping extravaganza at the contemporary revival of Abu Dhabi’s oldest souk in a historic district.
The World Trade Center is a must for any Abu Dhabi itinerary. Located on Khalifa Street, The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi has a "Mall Entrance" on one side of the street and a "Souk Entrance" on the opposite side.
While the Mall is modern and has all those lovely stores you are familiar with, a visit to the souk is delightful and decidedly upmarket. The souk is a honeycomb of connecting alleys where shoppers are treated to the sights, sounds, and scents of Arabia: haggling banter, sandalwood, spices, incense, herbs, and oud.
The Souk has numerous small shops where you can buy everything from dates to traditional
garments, such as beautiful embroidered silk, decorative kaftans, and pashminas, as well as a
plethora of souvenir options to remind you of your visit to Abu Dhabi. There’s also everything
from traditional artefacts, henna, and spices to jewellery, Arabic perfumes, and small home decor.
After you have finished shopping sit down and eat an Arabic meal at one of the Arabic restaurants in there. If you’re feeling peckish after all that shopping, Yalla recommends that you order a refreshing lemon-mint and some marvellous mezze at Tarbouche on the ground floor.
Whether you are here to relax or to shop until you drop, make sure you visit to the The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi for lovely momentos of your stay or a sneaky gift for yourself.
