When it comes to shopping, Abu Dhabi has a bustling shopping scene. From luxurious malls to Arabic-inspired souks, you'll find everything here!
Did you know?
The UAE ranks as one of the most popular destinations to shop in the world.
Shopping in the capital is a delightful experience and a major attraction across the UAE. Abu Dhabi has a vast choice of luxurious mega malls, local malls and traditional style souks dotted across the city. The long opening hours, wide marble-lined avenues, air-conditioning, convenient on-site car parking and array of international brands, means visiting a mall is a popular attraction for tourists and residents alike, anytime of year.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect souvenir, designer handbag, a beach dress, children's toy or pair of shoes, the choice is endless.
The city's malls don't just offer a superb retail experience, but are filled with world-class entertainment attractions and dining outlets, which are all open late so you can shop and dine until late into the evening.
You’ll find all the top designer brands here including; Dior, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Bvlgari, Ted Baker, Hugo Boss, American Eagle and DKNY to name a few, alongside the popular high street names such as Zara, H&M, Massimo Dutti, Debenhams, Muji, House of Fraser and Stradivarius.
In amongst the shops, you’ll also find interesting pop-up stalls and kiosks selling everything from fragrances to jewellery, as well as numerous cafés and restaurants where you can stop for a refreshment or bite to eat.
There's also a great selection of supermarkets and hypermarkets. For a spot of luxury shopping, we recommend Avenue at Etihad Towers. This boutique lifestyle shopping destination has 34 luxury brands including Versace, Manolo Blahnik, Salvatore Ferragamo, Givenchy, Tom Ford, Canali, Cartier and Rolex. Its impressive retail portfolio includes the world’s first and sole Stephane Rolland store, the only Middle East store for A. Lange & Sohne, as well as the only stores in Abu Dhabi for the likes of Hermes and Chloe.
To experience a modern-day take on the traditional souk head to the World Trade Center Souk or The Souk at Qaryat Al Beri. These offer a mixture of Arabic goods and clothing, jewellery, as well as perfumes and accessories.
Or how about heading to the carpet souk tucked away in Mina (the port area) where you can pick up good value, good quality rugs and carpets.
Did you know? Traditionally, a souk was an Arabic covered marketplace selling goods and services for the local community. Nowadays, you can find various interpre- tations of a souk, from small more traditional centres offering goods such as local handicrafts, to larger mall style developments in Arabian design, offering a mix of local and international stores. To help you get started with your shopping, here's a list of the main malls across the city; Abu Dhabi Mall, Al Wahda Mall, Marina Mall, The World Trade Center Mall and Souk,The Galleria Mall, Dalma Mall, Yas Mall and Deerfields Mall.
