If there’s any city in the world that takes shopping seriously, it’s Abu Dhabi. Global brands as well as shoppers from the GCC and beyond flock to the capital to appreciate the grandiosity and ease of its shopping malls.

In an effort to create indoor recreation as thrilling as its outdoor counterpart, Abu Dhabi has built temples to spending with a zest known nowhere else in the world. It’s no wonder that stepping into an Abu Dhabi shopping mall is an experience in itself and simply must be done even if you aren’t in town to shop.

Abu Dhabi Mall

Conveniently located in the busiest part of the city, Abu Dhabi Mall has been experiencing a bit of a rejuvenation in the past year, and with its brand-new look and expanded range of stores, visitors will be treated to an exciting new lifestyle experience.

With more than 200 luxury and high street stores, the mall appeals to all ages and shoppers around the world. It’s also a popular city spot due to its perfectly central location, attracting business clientele, local and expat residents, and tourists alike. Abu Dhabi offers much loved brands, such as Tchibo, DKNY, Lush and Polo Ralph Lauren and has just introduced Wagamama, Daiso, Mumuso, Beyond the Beach, Vox Cinema, Ladur.e, and The Coffee Club.

For those travelling with kids, Abu Dhabi Mall has entertainment venues popular with the younger set, including the new Extreme Zone, so parents may shop in peace.

Visitors will find many popular international coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants in the mall, as well as in the large food court. Abu Dhabi Mall is also connected to the well-known Beach Rotana hotel, which features 11 restaurants and cafes, in elegant 5-star surroundings.

World Trade Center Mall

The iconic buildings of the World Trade Center Mall & Souk contribute to the stunning Abu Dhabi skyline. Inside, the mall is home to hundreds of local and international brands, as well as some of the world's top food and beverage outlets. A short walk through the mall, you'll find the connecting World Trade Center Souk, which offers everything from traditional clothing to spices and jewellery.

The World Trade Center Mall & Souk, located on Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street, is open daily from 10am until 10pm, and until 11pm on a Thursday and Friday.

Yas Mall

This mega mall is the largest shopping destination in Abu Dhabi. Featuring more than 400 of the world’s top fashion brands, a 20-screen cinema and the region’s largest family entertainment venue, Fun Works, there’s enough to keep the whole family entertained for a full day. You’ll also find a mix of restaurants that offer a variety of local and international cuisine.

Marina Mall

Situated along the Breakwater of the city’s Corniche, Marina Mall is a mega mall offering an extensive range of retail options and family-friendly attractions, such as 10-pin bowling, trampoline park Bounce, a 9-screen cinema and a 15,000-year-old woolly mammoth skeleton to boot. Families gravitate to this mall for the inspired and regular calendar of events as well

as family dining faves, such as Five Guys and Shake Shack.

The Galleria Mall

Al Maryah Island is known to city residents as the “Manhattan of Abu Dhabi” so it’s little surprise to find a luxury shopping destination which boasts the world’s top designers in

The Avenue

Part of the spectacular Etihad Towers development, The Avenue is an art-inspired boutique lifestyle destination featuring 30 exclusive brands in a very intimate setting. The luxury collection of brands is home to the likes of Rolex, Cartier, Van Cleef, Bvlgari, and Tom Ford to name but a few. It’s also the only home in the capital to Hermes, Kiton, Manolo Blahnik, and Maison de Fleurs and will soon welcome the renowned Yamanote Atelier. The Avenue is also home to an exclusive Aston Martin showroom for the gents who might enjoy a break from the shopping.

Shopping In Al Ain

The shopping scene in Al Ain offers a more laid back experience. But with its variety of high-end designer outlets, high street stores and many souks, selling traditional items and clothing, it's definitely a popular place to shop.

Inside the malls, you'll find well-known brands, with many local favourites too, as well as a range of food and beverage options. Around Al Ain, the malls to look out for include: Al Ain Mall, Al Jimi Mall, Bawadi Mall, Al Foah Mall and Wahat Hili Mall. The souks include; Al Ain Souk, Souk Al Bawadi, Souk Al Qaws and Souk Al Zafarana. If you do go shopping, men should wear long shorts and women must dress in loose clothing with their shoulders covered.
